New York Alumni Hosts Alumni Day, Chooses New Officers

"The New York Chapter of the USC North American Alumni Association held their annual Alumni Day on August 30, 2014, at the Hanson Place SDA Church.  Several alumni from other Chapters joined the local alumni for a day of worship, praise and fellowship.

The sermon was delivered by Dr. Sylvan Lashley, Dean of the School of Graduate, Extensions, Continuing and Professional Studies (GCAPS) at the University of the Southern Caribbean. University President, Dr. Clinton Valley was also in attendance. He called for an offering and led out in the afternoon's discussion on USC's programmes and initiatives. The University's current fund-raising project is the construction of the new University Auditorium, which is in the early construction phase.

While the Hanson Place worship was in progress, Pastor Lester Parkinson, Director of Resource Development at USC, continued the University's strategy of visiting selected churches for USC fund-raising purposes.  He spoke at the New Life Church with Pastor Nigel Lewis. Dr. Valley also had the opportunity to visit New Life and share the vision and opportunities at USC.

On Sunday morning, the New York Chapter met to choose officers for the next two years.  The USC contingent was in attendance.  After an extended period at the helm, Dr. Lionel Williams chose to pass the mantle to another leader.  The University thanks Dr. Williams and all the outgoing officers for their dedicated service."
